Centurion is proud to be the provider of comprehensive healthcare services to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.  

We are currently seeking a full-time Statewide Medical Director to oversee the clinical services for the Maryland Pre-Trial and Incarcerated populations throughout various facilities in the state of Maryland.

The Statewide Medical Director provides the comprehensive medical, clinical, and utilization management direction needed to meet the service delivery requirements of a specific contract in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations (VPO) and/or Regional Vice President of Operations (RVP). The Statewide Medical Director mentors, clinically supervises, and evaluates the team-delivered medical services for the patients at all facilities of the contract and promotes the culture of quality medical care using evidence-based standards of care. This professional serves as the contract’s clinical expert, provider resource, clinical and medical management leader, and clinical outcomes driver while representing correctional healthcare to the client and the contract’s providers.

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical director leadership required
  • Correctional healthcare experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to pass credentialing and background check
  • Reside in Maryland preferred and be able to travel to all the various correctional facilities in Maryland
  • Experience with utilization review for off-site and specialty care, InterQual certification desirable
  • Experience in managing collaborative bargaining unit workforce desirable
  • Experience with MOUD management and NTP/OTP programs desirable
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required
  • Active and unrestricted MD/DO  Maryland medical license or the ability to obtain one required
  • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Preventative Medicine or Emergency Medicine required
  • Must show/be able to obtain active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substances registration
